Hey there, fellow design enthusiasts and DIYers! I’m thrilled to share that I’m diving headfirst into the One Room Challenge Fall 2023 (with media partner Apartment Therapy) – and this time, I’m tackling our primary bedroom.
After the incredible success of our Spring One Room Challenge master bathroom renovation, it’s high time our master bedroom gets a well-deserved refresh!
For our master bedroom project, I’ve curated a mood board that embodies the perfect blend of moodiness and classic design. Think muted grays, tans, creams, and whites – a color palette that sets the stage for endless seasonal decor transformations.

Here’s my list of to-do’s for our master bedroom makeover:
- Refinish the ceilings (removing all popcorn)
- Remove closet inside the bedroom to square off the room and create a doorway to the new master bathroom
- Add new windows for better insulation and natural light
- Change/update the ceiling light fixture
- Install crown molding and change base molding with taller, beefier molding
- Paint bedroom walls, ceiling, and doors
- Refinish existing wood furniture
- Install new carpet
- Add new curtains, wall art, area rug, and other decor elements
- Create/update a cozy reading corner
- Refresh the bedding and add new elements
- Finally, the exciting moment of the reveal!
