Build the Perfect Easter Basket!
Customized for every kid and on budget.
The perfect Easter basket is full of vivid colors, playful sweets and fun gifts for kids to enjoy and even share. And you might even keep the basket around after Easter, filling it with flowers or other decor items for a seasonal centerpiece.
Here are my easy steps to creating a festive, personal basket for my children.
1. Choose Your Basket
You can select from a wide variety of baskets in different shapes and materials. I love classic white in wicker but this year, this yellow-ish natural wood basket from Walmart really caught my eye.
TIP: You can also customize these by adding a name tag or a personalized liner with your child’s name. Adds a special touch!
2. Stuff your Basket
I add plastic bags or brown paper at the base of the basket to create some height and a foundation to place the goodies.
Then I add some shredded Easter grass as a nest for eggs and candy. You can also use real hay or raffia ribbon for a natural effect. Or, my favorite, colorful crinkle paper. I chose a corresponding bright yellow that follows the theme of your basket.
3. Personalize your Basket
I start with items of interest for each child. For my four-year-old daughter, that’s journaling (ok, so she scribbles and calls it writing) and arts & crafts.
I stopped by my local Dollar Store to pick up the canvas and art supplies as well as art brushes.
While there, I also found these super cute pencils and journals that she’ll love because, well, they’re mostly pink and purple and with flowers. She’s definitely a girly-girl.
I added a few cute little useful items like a bunny-adorned water bottle, erasers, and more.
4. Make it sweet!
Now comes the sweet part: filling her basket with her Russel Stover favorites!! We’re talking chocolate eggs filled with marshmallow with caramel, strawberry cream and peanut butter flavors, then jelly beans, coconut nests, and all types of assorted milk and dark chocolates.
And of course, I top it off with their signature and oversized milk chocolate bunny!!
