Reunion: All-time Favorite, Family-Friendly Resort in Orlando!

We were hosted this summer for a week’s stay at Reunion Resort & Golf Club in Orlando, Florida. Let the kids tell it: it was THE best vacation ever. And quite frankly, I couldn’t agree more.

Our stay at Reunion Resort was one of my all-time favorite family trips!! We made memories I will cherish for a lifetime. Seeing the gleeful smiles on our kids’ little faces and hear their giggles and all-out laughter is what every parent hopes for.

Some of our favorite Reunion Resort amenities and features include:

  • The incredible, 5-acre water park
  • The additional splash pads and numerous pools
  • Miniature golf
  • Close proximity to Disney World® Resort (roughly 7 miles) and SeaWorld® Orlando (roughly 15 miles)
  • Generous accommodations
  • Signature and on-site restaurants
  • Top notch customer service

LET’S TALK WATER PARK

It’s huge; five acres of non-stop, activity-filled enjoyment to be exact! The kids were all over the aquatic playground — especially the spraying water cannons. And something about that giant water bucket emptying over their heads every few minutes gets them every time. They loved it!

We enjoyed drifted along the lazy river in our tubes, under the water falls, watching the water slide activity, taking in the views and just relaxing.

THE BEST: watching my daredevil husband and 7-year-old son fly down that giant, winding water slide, again and again.

THE UNEXPECTED: watching our 4-year-old daughter confidently enter the “beach entry“ pool, going all the way to the 3-foot area and playing, quite self-assured and without fear. She has NEVER done that before, even with a year of swimming lessons, she always wants me or my husband to accompany her AND stay with her in the pool.

THE ULTIMATE: having a poolside cabana! While there are plenty of no-charge lawn chairs and umbrellas available, the cabana experience is a MUST!!

Total comfort and shade with a ceiling fan to cool you down, lounge chairs and a sofa with tables for your comfort, and six water bottles, which you’ll need — we’re in Florida remember? I also appreciated having an electrical outlet for my laptop and cell phone. Definite bonus points!

Another cabana perk, all your meals and drinks are delivered directly to you, and as often as you’d like.

Adjacent to the water park’s pool area, the kids enjoyed a little hula hoop and Connect Four fun.

WATER ACTIVITY EVERYWHERE

There are actually 10 community pool at Reunion Resort to accommodate guests. If you want a “quieter”experience, we found that many of those pools had far less traffic. We visited the one near our villa for a late afternoon swim almost daily. And, while reviewing the Reunion Resort property map, we uncovered another splash pad – complete with slides, water buckets and more – behind the water park. It’s small but perfect. Easy to keep an eye on the kids and catch up on your reading all at the same time. And, best of all, the kids loved it!

PARENTAL TIP: there are also two playgrounds on the property. Great early evening activity to ensure the best sleep for the kiddos!

MINIATURE GOLF

We had a blast at the Resort’s mini golf course. Their 18-hole course is just challenging enough for all to enjoy.

Mini golf is an inexpensive, fun, family-bonding activity with a little competition, mischief and kid-friendly trash talk! And let my husband tell it, he won hands down — marking himself as scoring a hole-in-one for every hole.⁣⁣Of course, he was CAUGHT!! And the kids made him pay dearly with piggy back rides to our villa.

PRO TIP: Of course, if you’re a seasoned golfer, you’ll enjoy the resort’s three signature golf courses designed by golf giants Jack Nicklaus,Arnold Palmer and Tom Watson.

PROXIMITY TO AREA ATTRACTIONS

Another added value of staying at Reunion Resort is its proximity to major area attractions like SeaWorld® Orlando, which is roughly 15 miles away. We took the opportunity to visit SeaWorld® during our stay and had an amazing time.

In our next stay at Reunion Resort, we plan to take the kids to Disney World® Resort which is only about 7 miles away!

MAJOR BONUS: the resort offers complimentary shuttle service that takes guests to the Disney World® Resort Transportation and Ticket Center, with direct access to the monorail or ferry to Magic Kingdom.

ULTIMATE ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS

The resort boasts some 200+ villa accommodations, ranging from one to three bedrooms. We absolutely LOVED our 3-bedroom and 3-bathroom villa. It was large, modern and nicely decorated, super clean, complete with an open-space living room, dining with a full kitchen.

The kids enjoyed a bubble bath or two in our master bathroom tub and as a mom, I appreciated having a washer and dryer unit in our villa.THE UNEXPECTED: the large and private outdoor balconies with beautiful and lush views. We enjoyed many breakfasts al fresco as a family and many rounds of Candy Land board games in the evenings on our balcony.

A much-needed glass of wine for mom on our in-suite balcony!!

NOM, NOM, NOM

If you enjoy good food, Reunion Resort features some six signature and on-site restaurants to impress a variety of palettes. Below is just a sampling of our favorite dishes from the restaurants we tried.

7593 Chophouse is perhaps the resort’s more upscale restaurant yet it has a kid’s menu. The cuisine is exquisite. I’ve never had seared crab cakes so good!! And we dove into our INCREDIBLE Signature Bone-In Prime Cowboy Ribeye with Au Poivre Cognac Sauce so quick, I forgot to take a photo for y’all.

Traditions is located right on the golf course with great views. It offers casual dining, with a slightly sports-bar feel (we caught a few glimpse of the Olympics on one of their flat screens). My husband’s Clubhouse Stack was amazing!! And the dessert, oh the dessert. It was truly an experience!

Drifter’s Grille (at the water park) is super convenient and offers quick service. They also have the BEST mahi-mahi fish tacos ever and I love their virgin frozen mango margaritas. We also enjoyed the Clubhouse. It’s a great casual, indoor /outdoor option that worked well for our family (and apparently for a lot of golfers too).

ABOVE RATE CUSTOMER SERVICE

Everybody, I mean EVERYONE, we came into contact with was friendly, personable, helpful and just nice. I am very sensitive to poor customer service, having worked retail while in college (many moons ago). So I know the signs. Honestly, this is a well-run resort that prioritizes the user experience!

And little touches like my name on the welcome screen in our villa, well that was quite nice. Their interactive customer service, now THAT was awesome and convenient. AND, if you preferred a live person, one was always available for us every time!

Clearly, there’s A LOT more to Reunion Resort but this has been our experience. Please head to their website to learn more. Our family is looking forward to coming back for another week to take full advantage of all this beautiful resort and water park community has to offer.
