Mood Board Design Inspirations for your Next Interior Update!

Are you wanting to update a room in your home? I recommend starting with a plan!
I recently partnered with Carpet One Floor & Home to bring you a little design inspiration, using mood boards, featuring some of their Top 10 Trending Flooring Options for 2021.

With so many options in this box of goodies, my imagination ran wild. So, if you’re anything like me, I suggest creating a mood board to help you organize your ideas, color schemes and decor choices in one place to help define a coherent design concept. Mood boards not only keep me focused but also help me stay on budget.

1. FARMHOUSE COASTAL CHIC

My love of all things beachy, coastal and farmhouse inspired this mood board. When I saw this beautiful the Enchanted Lake in Creamy by Mirror Lake™ Performance Flooring, I instantly fell in love. I immediately started to dream about a clean, mostly neutral indoor/outdoor coastal space.

Mood Board Idea 1
Here I’m envisioning a four-season sunroom with floor-to-ceiling windows, with walls covered in a yummy shade of wheat-beige (Rainy Day, PANTONE 13-5304), decorated with straw or rattan sofas with creamy cushions and Faded Denim (or Cornwall Blue for a brighter hue) and textured deep brown (PANTONE 476) throw pillows for contrast.

And of course, a fiddle leaf tree and other greenery, and all the farmhouse and coastal-chic elements to create a cozy indoor/outdoor retreat.
To pull off this look, it’s important to add lots of textures and layers for added interest.

2. BEIGE WITH A TWIST

What’s the twist you wonder? Whisper Pink Walls.

When I saw this paint color swatch (included in my top 10 trending flooring options for 2021 box from Carpet One) I knew it would be the perfect starting point to update our entryway (see below).

And, given our lifestyle (two boisterous children under the age of eight always running around), the Ralston Creek Vinyl Tile by Invincible XT is the perfect choice to update our flooring. It’s robust, resistant to scratch, scuff and stain. Also, the color of this luxury vinyl is absolutely GORGEOUS – it’s a beautiful and warm redwood color called Charleston.

Finally, the carpet on our stairs has seen better days. The Broadloom Lafayette Square by Resista 3.0 in the color Performer would be a great replacement. I love the texture and subtle mix of tonal colors of this carpet. And it feels so good to the touch.

In all, my goal is to update our entryway by:
And to maintain this organic feel and keep things light and airy, I plan to layer in some greenery and “modern” chippy elements in whites, creams and some browns for additional interest and texture.

3. SUMMER FRESH

If you follow me on the gram, you know I love all-white bedding, with a pop of color here and there. You’ll also know that I’ve been wanting to change the existing carpet in our bedroom to wooden floors for a while now.

These Anchor Wharf wood floors by Hydrotek H2O in the Desert Sand color is absolutely gorgeous! It’s a warm grayish-brown wood flooring with moderate variation in pattern. I can see it aptly “anchoring” our bedroom, creating a modern-traditional classic look for years to come.

To create this summery look, I recommend:
I can imagine spending most of my weekend mornings in bed with a good brew (or cup of Joe) and enjoying a good book!

So, 1,2,or 3? Which is your favorite mood board?

If you don’t have a favorite, how would you change these up?
